Kulchalee Arts Celebrates Black History Month: October 2025 Recap
Event #1: African Drumming and Storytelling Workshop – Staplehurst School
On Friday, October 10th, 2025, Kulchalee Arts hosted an African Drumming and Storytelling Workshop at Staplehurst School from 8:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. The day was filled with rhythm, laughter, and learning as students explored the art of African drumming and the power of storytelling.
It was a joyful experience sharing the beauty of African culture with such enthusiastic and talented students. Their energy, creativity, and willingness to learn made the workshop truly special. I want to thank all the students and staff for their wonderful participation and warm welcome throughout the day.
Event #2: Broadway Theatre – Catford, London
On Saturday, October 11th, 2025, Kulchalee Arts visited the Broadway Theatre in Catford, London, for a day of cultural celebration and artistic inspiration. The event brought together performers, artists, and community members to honor Black History Month through music, art, and storytelling.
It was an inspiring visit for me and for everyone who attended. The atmosphere was filled with creativity, pride, and unity, reminding us of the importance of sharing and celebrating our cultural heritage. The experience left a lasting impression, reinforcing the power of art to connect and uplift communities.
Event #3: African Festival BBAM – Southampton
On October 12th, 2025, Kulchalee Arts joined forces with African Activities to bring vibrant energy and cultural celebration to Guildhall Square in Southampton. The African Festival BBAM was a free community event dedicated to celebrating Black culture, heritage, and creativity. Check out the video above!
The day was filled with rhythm, color, and connection as attendees experienced African drumming, dance, crafts, and storytelling. Kulchalee Arts proudly took the stage alongside African Activities, sharing the joy and power of traditional African drumming with the crowd. Check out the video above!
Event #4: Prison Hostel Motivational/ Inspirational Cultural Presentation - Worcester
On Friday, October 15th, 2025: Kulchalee Arts visited a Prison hostel holding offenders from prison in Worcester.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time working with offenders in a hostel in Worcester, where I was able to mentor individuals and deliver a motivational, inspirational talk and workshop. Sharing my knowledge and personal experiences—especially around African, Caribbean, and British cultures—was incredibly rewarding, and it was a privilege to support others in building confidence, understanding identity, and moving forward positively.
Event #5: Adinkra Block Printing Workshops – Seaham High School, Durham
On Friday, October 17th, 2025, Kulchalee Arts visited Seaham High School in Durham to deliver a creative and educational Adinkra Block Printing Workshop. Students learned about the history and symbolism of traditional Adinkra symbols from Ghana, exploring how each design represents values, wisdom, and cultural identity.
It was a joyful and inspiring day filled with creativity and learning. I truly enjoyed guiding the students through the process of designing and printing their own Adinkra-inspired artwork. The enthusiasm and curiosity they brought to the workshop made the experience both meaningful and memorable.
Event #6: Afrifest 2025 – Bristol
On Saturday, October 25th, 2025, Kulchalee Arts participated in Afrifest 2025, held at 20–22 Hepburn Road, St Paul’s, Bristol. The festival, themed “Stronger Together,” was a vibrant celebration of African and Caribbean cultures, featuring food, music, art, and community spirit.
Kulchalee Arts hosted a series of engaging and creative workshops that inspired participants of all ages to explore African art and culture through hands-on activities.

Event #7: Autumn Playdays Art Workshops – Two Venues
On October 29th and 31st, 2025, Kulchalee Arts hosted Autumn Playdays Art Workshops across two venues as part of the Black History Month celebrations. These creative sessions offered families and young people the opportunity to explore art through painting, crafts, and cultural expression.
It was a joy to be back in my hometown delivering these workshops. Sharing creativity and culture with the local community was deeply fulfilling, and seeing the excitement and imagination of participants made the experience truly special.
